I found out I'll be plaing my solo from the concerto competition with the Symphony on October 23rd (a Friday) during the school day for the Dubuque Schools Music Tour or something like that. All the 3rd graders in the county come and are introduced to classical music. So I'll be performing it 4 times that day. If you would particularly like to come and see it with a bunch of 3rd graders, let me know and I'll see if I can fit you in. They will let me invite a few people to some of the performances. Namely grandparents and teachers, but if you are just dying to come, let me know before October and I'll see what I can do. I'm going to see if there's any way I can get the performance recorded. I'll bet I can. I mean, it's my performance...
I have a college schedule now. It is probably the best college scheddule I will ever have. So I am going to enjoy this semester to its fullest. It goes as follows:
M/W/F:
10:00 Oral Interpretation
11:00 Keyboard Skills (MW only)
1:00 Music History
3:00 Recital class (Friday only)
T/TH:
9:30 Theory Review (Tuesday only - I'm taking a test in August to see if I can drop it possibly)
11:00 Math as a Liberal Art
2:00 Instrumental Technique: Voice and Guitar
Along with these, I'm also taking piano and cello lessons on campus sometime on one of those days. I'll meet with the teachers and fix up a time. I love it. I have music EVERY DAY. And M/W/F it's music/arts ALL day. Of course, the history class is a lot of work I've heard, I'm totaly up for it. I tested out of taking a freshman writing course and spanish. I'm SO READY for this. Love it. I'm done by 2:00/3:00 every day except Friday, 4:00. And I don't start until 9:30/10:00.
Anyway. Next piece I'm working on: [link]
Saint Saens Cello Concerto #1 in A minor. It's a ton of fun.
I'm really excited for my growth and progress and how much more progress I know I'm going to make in college. Learning these new pieces just gets me soooo pumped. I know I will do well in life, and I'm ready to start making steps toward having success. I've been raised well, and I know my goals are achievable and good goals to be having.
Weeeeee starting life and leaving high school faaar behind is exciting.
(though technically, my high school is just down the street from my college... I'm going to try and not think about that.)
